SpeedDater is the UK’s leading singles events company. SpeedDater was founded by Simon Prockter and Ben Tisdall in September 2002 and quickly established itself as the market leader in the sector. SpeedDater now runs speed dating in over 40 cities across the UK. After successfully running a number of holidays under the SpeedDater brand, the company launched www.SpeedBreaks.co.uk as a separate site. Holidays for single travellers include skiing, snowboarding, tennis, sailing, diving, activity and adventure holidays.
At a SpeedDater event you will normally get around twenty dates each lasting three minutes. At the smaller events the dates are generally extended to four or five minutes.
When you arrive SpeedDater hosts will greet you, sign you in, give you a scorecard, a name badge and a pen, then invite you to have a drink at the bar. Once everyone has arrived the SpeedDater host will explain how speed dating works and answer any questions. Then the dating begins. Usually women will stay seated while men will rotate every three minutes when the bell rings. After each date participants mark on a scorecard whether they would like to see that person again. At the end of the evening everyone takes their scorecards home with them to enter their ticks online on the SpeedDater website.
Most speed daters are professionals who want to meet more people. They're generally normal, attractive people who just aren't meeting people through their work or immediate circle of friends.
